Sean
Tuohy strummed his first chord at age fourteen - on a sunburst Harmony
guitar ordered out of a Sears catalog. He wore the
fretboard
down as he learned the fundamentals of music - taking private lessons
in
Rock, Jazz, and Classical music throughout high school and
college.
Sean's first professional gig was at fifteen years old with lifelong
friend
Dennis DeRado and their high school band "Masquerade," jamming out Led
Zeppelin, Hendrix, and early Van Halen tunes to crowds in excess of a
thousand
throughout central New York.
Sean attended the University of Miami in Florida, focusing on electrical engineering and music. There he played with some of the hottest young musicians from America and the world. He recorded a project with performing artist Keith Michael O'hare and appeared on a special CD release published by CD Review Magazine. Sean transferred to State University of New York at Oneonta to reunite with former bandmate Dennis DeRado and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and the Music Industry. After performing with several great acts, Sean and Den began working with Joe Santora and Peter Zaage of CER studios, to form the eclectic rock band Joey Shaker. The group has just released their third CD and Sean has moved to a lower register as bassist on "No Distortion" - a fresh organic album that expands the band's musical statement. Sean
currently teaches guitar classes at State University of New York at
Cortland
and has maintained a number of private students for the past eight
years.
He also functions as site admistrator and web designer for the
pioneering
indie label - Common Era Records. Influences: |
